WKB method

(WKBJ method, WKB approximation, WKBJ approximation)
(method of numerically solving certain differential equations)

The WKB method (or WKB approximation, aka WKBJ method or approximation) is a method of approximating solutions to some differential equations. It was developed for quantum mechanics and is applicable to the Schrödinger equation, offering (more) tractable solutions to some quantum mechanical calculations. Its development was largely a rediscovery of an approximation method dating back to the early 19th century that is also applicable to various other differential equations.
