EMPIRE Survey
(EMIR Multi-line Probe of the ISM Regulating Galaxy Evolution)
(survey of gas in M51a to follow up PAWS)
The EMPIRE Survey
(EMIR Multi-line Probe of the ISM Regulating Galaxy Evolution)
is a survey of gas spectral lines in nine
star-forming galaxies.
Observations have been carried out with
the EMIR instrument on the IRAM 30m Telescope,
mapping molecular lines within the 3-mm window, specifically,
HCN, HCO+, and HNC lines within that window.
The angular resolution is about half an arcminute.
