Orion Molecular Cloud Complex

(Orion Complex, Orion Molecular Clouds)
(group of molecular clouds with star-forming regions)

Orion Molecular Cloud Complex (or Orion Complex or Orion Molecular Clouds) is a group of molecular clouds including star-forming regions, in the constellation Orion. Included are two giant molecular clouds, Orion A and Orion B. The complex spans around 100 parsecs, and is roughly 400 pc distant. It includes young stars indicating significant star formation over the last 12 million years. Among the interesting astronomical objects within it: the Orion Nebula, the Orion Disks, the Orion Nebula Cluster, the Trapezium Cluster, and Nessie.
